Try this ab twisting exercise while sitting in your chair at work. First you will need to grab a stapler. Now sit up nice and straight on the edge of your chair. Keep your abs tight and your knees bent with your feet flat on the floor. Hold the stapler close to your chest and raise your elbows so that they are parallel to the floor. Now twist your torso to the right and then back to the starting position and then twist to the left and then back again. Repeat this motion for 3 sets of 20 (10 on each side).

You can do these side bends to exercise your abs at work. First grab your stapler. Now sit straight up on the edge of your chair with your knees bent. Hold the stapler directly above your head, keeping your arms nice and straight. Keeping your abs tight of course, bend to the right about 2 feet or more if you can. Come back to the starting position and then bend the same distance to your left. Repeat these movements for 3 sets of 20 (10 on each side).

Go easy on your joints. You will definitely need them especially in your mid-life and there after. If you’re feeling pain in your joints your body may be telling you to slow down a bit. If you’re an athlete or avid runner you may need to try something that is less hard on the body. Remember low impact exercising such as Pilates, yoga or swimming? They can be great alternatives that produce similar benefits.
What ever you do regarding diet and exercise, do not have unrealistic goals. Some people, including myself, go into a mountain of an exercise routine expecting too much way too soon. Always keep in mind that anything worth doing for the benefit of our health will take time and dedication. It is safe to say that you will probably not loose five inches in your waist in only one month unless you are using some seriously unsafe practices. So try to keep your eyes on the notion of being healthy instead of losing 20 pounds in an unreasonable amount of time.
With all of those new fad diet plans it can hard to decipher which are going to work for you in a healthy way and which will only destroy your metabolism. Most of these fad diets force you to almost completely eliminate carbohydrates from the bread or whole grain group. When choosing a meal plan always remember that the bread group is our friend. Choose from this group wisely. Whole grains provide much needed energy and an adequate amount of fiber.
